The Parking and Traffic Appeals Service (PATAS) was established by The Road Traffic Act 1991 to provide the administrative support to the Parking and Traffic Adjudicators. The service continues to provide this support under the Traffic Management Act 2004 and, since 2003, to the Road User Charging Adjudicators.
The adjudicators consider appeals against Penalty Charge Notices issued by the London local authorities. For appeals against Penalty Charge Notices issued by authorities in England and Wales but outside London, visit www.trafficpenaltytribunal.gov.uk
The service receives and processes appeals and schedules hearings.
PATAS also provides support for the hearing centre based at Angel Square in Islington.
PATAS aims to provide a fast, efficient and quality service, offering case management support to the panels of independent adjudicators.
Anyone who has received a Penalty Charge Notice can appeal to the Adjudicator, provided that the correct procedure has been followed.
